HEALTH SHACK-DEHYDRATION-WATER WATER WATER

Life is good…when you’re hydrated that is.

As summer allegedly approaches (DAMN the threats of rain and
inconsistent sunshine!) and things get heated up, our bodies will tend
to sweat more often, naturally, considering the hot summer months.
With this in mind, know that if not given the right nutrients and
enough liquids, you could definitely become a candidate for
dehydration.

Dehydration occurs when the body loses more fluid than it ingests, in
result, your body doesn’t have enough fluids to go on with its normal
functions. Causes of dehydration are fever, diarrhea and vomiting;
more common causes are exercising without drinking water and not
drinking plenty of water during hot weather. Some symptoms include:
dry mouth, thirst, dry skin and tiredness. There are a few things that
you can do to  keep from becoming dehydrated:

Drink plenty of water
Avoid being in direct sunlight for long periods of time
Eat foods that are juicy like fruits and some vegetables.
Don’t eat foods that are too high in sodium and If you work out, make
sure you drink plenty of water.

Helpful hint: because the weather is warmer, you don’t have to worry
about OVER hydrating either. Avoid thick and greasy gels like
petroleum jelly as they clog your pours and make the natural process
of sweating a bit more difficult. Remember, no matter the time of
year, there is always risk of becoming dehydrated.
