TREND REPORT – EARNING YOUR STRIPES – JINA GG MURAYOSHI
One of the best parts about this time of the year is the endless stream of Bold Colors! Much like polka dots and plaids, Classic strips are a thing of endless beauty. And while my closet may be full of black and white, navys, and neutrals, right now I’ve been having brighter strips on my mind, specifically the cheerful bubblegum styles shown on some of my favorite spring runways. From a cheeky red and blue skirt at Fendi to a sporty chic shirt at Celine, this is definitely a bold trend that my fellow fashion lovers can easily adapt to!
Before trying these cheerful bold statement pieces, it’s important to make sure you’re educated on this topic. (You must earn your stripes, if you will)
Prada S/S offered a more formal version of bubblegum stripes with colors like orange, pink, and yellow while Marc Jacobs has more of a relaxed vibe with a softer feel. When trying out bubblegum stripes this season remember that you don’t need to replicate the runway exactly, sometimes just one or two bold colors are enough! For example, you can pair a flamboyant cocktail dress with a contrasting shoe, or pair sportier separates like a blue and red striped skirt and a silk printed top, or a horizontal striped shirt with a slouchy pair of trousers resulting in a fun-filled look.
If your inspired by this week’s Trend Report make this your next purchase to bring life to your wardrobe, It’s fun, daring and BOLD! It’s always better to STAND OUT then to blend in!
